AcademicCritical analysis of the famous "Those heroes that shed their blood" tribute
Recent scholarship has raised serious questions about the authenticity and direct authorship of the famous ANZAC tribute often attributed to Atatürk in 1934. Historians have found no contemporary written record confirming the familiar 1934 wording or Atatürk’s direct authorship. The earliest known source appears in a 1953 newspaper interview. However, historical accounts indicate that the text was drafted by then Minister of the Interior Şükrü Kaya and approved by Atatürk, giving it official authority despite the uncertainty surrounding its exact origin.
